founded in 1988
Internationally known blues band Sweet Daddy Cool Breeze formed in 1988 and has stayed together to nurture a powerful chemistry among its talented members. Now fused into a groove-driving force, Sweet Daddy Cool Breeze has what it takes and delivers a top-notch blues show. The band shared the stage with blues legends like Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, and Los Lobos, to name a few, and has toured internationally as headliners for more than five years. Front-man Wally "Sweet Daddy" Greaney and German guitarist Uwe Herr are considered one of the best harp and guitar teams around. Master bassist Joe Fonda and the explosive drumming of Pete Perfido make up the rhythm section that gives the band the pilsating groove that drives a powerful blues experience.
Wally "Sweet Daddy" Greaney
harmonica, saxophone, vocals
This flamboyant performer's "got moves like an acrobat..." writes the German press about the multi-talented pyrotechnical front-man Wally Greaney, who flexes his chops on lead vocals, full-bodied harmonica, and saxophone. Performing professionally since 1972, Wally Greaney has played and recorded with Matt "Guitar" Murphy, Kenny Johnson & Company, Albert Collins, Buddy Guy, and Junior Wells.
Uwe Herr
guitar
Electrifying, primal, and gutsy, Uwe Herr is Germany's number one blues guitar player. He is best known for work with Cadillac Blues Band, which was voted Germany's best blues band. He has opened for such great artists as Luther Allison, Wishbone Ash, Jonny Copland, and Ricky Lawson.
Joe Fonda
bass guitar
Rock-solid and rooted in the groove, Joe Fonda is an internationally known blues and jazz bassist, composer, arranger, and recording artist who has shared the stage with many world-renowned artists, including: Anthony Braxton, Archie Shepp, Kenny Johnson, Bill and Kenny Barron, Matt "Guitar" Murphy, Chico Hamilton, and others. Also an innovative composer, Fonda has been the recipient of several grants and composer commissions, and he has released two recordings under his own name and numerous recordings with other artists.
Pete Perfido
drums
A powerful drummer, Pete Perfido has performed internationally in both jazz and blues idioms. He has appeared in festivals, concerts and theatrical productions in the Far East, North Africa, Eastern and Western Europe, the former Soviet Union, Canada, and the United States; he has shared the stage with Art Lande, Julian Priester, Chet Baker, Gary Peacock, Joe Lee Wilson, Liz McComb, Bob Dorough, and many others. Pete has released two recordings and has been broadcast on radio and television throughout Europe.
"The rest of the world is about to find out what the European blues scene figured out a long time ago: Sweet Daddy Cool Breeze is one bad ass blues band. These boys know how to run with the big dogs, and Live in France testifies to that from front to back."
