The FAB Trio (Joe Fonda, Barry Altschul, Billy Bang) was in smoking form: Bang's fiddling was enjoyably over-the-top, and Altschul cracked away at his kit with extra-long sticks, like a rock'n'roll version of a swing drummer. Fonda's joyous shuffle-dance with his bass pinned the whole thing together. The highlight was a killer version of "Chan Chan" from Buena Vista Social Club.
